We’re volunteering at Any Baby Can

Every month, Austin Involved members select a Charity of Choice, and we give of our time and money to help that nonprofit achieve its mission.

April is Early Childhood Education month, and Austin Involved members have chosen to support Any Baby Can, which provides aid to the youngest, sickest and poorest children in Austin.

Studies show that children who start school behind rarely ever catch up, so education from birth to age 3 is critical.  In our poorest communities, children grow up without ever even seeing a book.  When that’s your start, it’s so difficult to have success in school and as an adult.  This month it’s our chance to make an impact in a child or a parent’s life EARLY, so we can break the cycle.

On Saturday, April 28th we’re headed to Any Baby Can’s headquarters in East Austin to work with kids and families at their weekly Family Literacy Class.  You could choose to work with little kids learning to read, play educational games with toddlers, or work with parents on English Language and literacy skills.
