Meet Giving City Magazine
Austin has (more than!) our fair share of people who care about philanthropy. We have a lot of people who work tirelessly, for not a lot of money and even less notoriety, to do great things for our community. We don’t often get to celebrate them all in one place…
until Giving City magazine.
Begun three years ago as a blog, then a digital publication highlighting the best good work being done in the philanthropic sector of our city, Giving City was forced to stop production after four issues. There ARE only so many hours in a day for these tireless workers, after all. But Giving City has a new sponsor, the generous Austin Community Foundation (big round of applause to them, ‘cuz they’ve helped Austin Involved, too!), and now the magazine is back up and running again, working on its relaunch for an October 2010 issue.
The digital format is state-of-the-art, the voice is insightful as it looks into all the good being done right in our hometown, and at the helm is the passionate and personable Monica Williams. Her convictions make all the rest of us redouble ours, and I can’t wait to see the good things that come out of this new partnership.
In the meantime, while we wait for the magazine to launch, you can read Monica’s blog and follow her on Twitter, and I highly recommend you do.
