Kindness Kits hit the Streets
On Sunday, April 23rd Kindness Kits hit the streets of Austin… and who knows what will happen.
<dum dum DUMMMMMMM!>
Two hundred and fifty of the cheer-spreading bags are being deployed by Austin Involved members along South Congress over the course of 2 hours. The premise behind Kindness Kits is the same as that behind Austin Involved: that it’s easier than you thought to do good. So our members will be “doing good” by passing out bags to 125 strangers who look like they could use a pick-me-up.
But it doesn’t stop there. Each of the 125 Kindness Kits given out on Sunday have in them a second Kindness Kit, plus instructions: you, the recipient, have to pass along that second bag to ANOTHER stranger you meet, thereby continuing the chain of good deeds.
We’ve had great donations from local business, restaurants, craftspeople, etc. You might enjoy a free appetizer at North, a handmade necklace, a printed fabric shopping bag, an entree at Panda Express, or even a free haircut. Many bags also have KIND brand snack bars inside, which makes perfect sense, doesn’t it?
We’ll keep you posted on how the kits traveled around the city, and if we hear of any good deeds we inspired. Stay tuned!
