Could YOU Be The Change?

Could YOU Be The Change?

Are you ready for Be The Change Day 2010?

Formerly the “Ghandi Day of Service,” Be The Change Day is a nationwide day of service, and Austinites are being *especially* challenged to participate this year, as we’ve been chosen as one of the national sites.  Every year, thousands volunteer across the country in the spirit of Ghandi’s famous quote: “Be the change you wish to see in the world.”

If you are up for the challenge, join us on October 2nd, 2010.  I’ll be there, working hard!  This is for EVERYONE, though the local event is coordinated by South Asian Americans Leading Together (SAALT).  The SAALT team and I talked about how everyone, regardless of background, can find inspiration in Ghandi’s life, and do good work in October to celebrate his purpose.

Click here to visit the Be The Change site and sign up to volunteer. You can select your preferences for what kind of volunteer activity you sign up for, and they’ll plug you in to an already-set-up project.  Or, if you want, you can lead your own team and register a project of YOUR choosing.

This day is a chance for us to not only volunteer, but do it as part of a huge national effort, and to celebrate our hard work with the entire city at a downtown celebration afterward.  There’s also a Ghandi Day Writing Contest, so let all your Austin-area pre-college students know.

See you on October 2nd!
